Earthquake in CR?

According to the Tico gardener, there ARE no earthquakes in CR, but you could sure fool me! Yesterday we had a 6.2 earthquake, and I was sitting on my little sofa, reading quietly, and then the earth shook! I wondered if the wind was SO forceful (see photo of storm out my front door) that it was shaking the house, but a neighnbor assured me it had been an earthquake!!Add a new experience to life! I realize that nothing in my former life has prepared me for earthquakes. What is one to do??

Today I went out to see the damage to the beach, but the only difference I noticed were the scads of monkeys screeching and flopping from branch to branch in the trees as I walked down to the beach. I found a little nest on the way, and I picked it up to look lovingly at the tender care and sturdiness of it;then, I returned it to its place on the ground in hopes that some macho birdie would come claim it. Bird's nest preservation. Once I got down to the water, the only thing I no0ticed was some brown slime mixed into the white from the waves. Later in the day there were big brown-yellow bubbles in spots, but I swam and rode a few waves, getting ready to learn to surf, I suppose.

By this afternoon, the beach and the sky had cleared up, and I couldn't resist another walk. I kept seeing these yellow butterflies flitting around as though they had come from another setting. There was nowhere for

them to land and eat nectar, but they seemed to be stiching together the world of bush and flower to that of sea and sand. Now that I know I can go to Esterillo Oeste and get Internet at my little beach bar that also, by the way, serves crap coffee in the morning, I will be able to keep up with a blog.

Until manana, I remain truly Costa Rican!
